I'm about 20% (or more) into the sequel to Dragons' Fealty and I'm now thinking that I might as well release them together... because I haven't even looked at edits or started the cover sketch or marketing fluff on DF yet, and I don't like taking time from writing Scion to concentrate on those things.
So... I guess that's the plan? Which would put release for both books sometime in June/July. I think principle writing on Scion will be done in a month and a half, maybe. I don't love 'release nothing and then release a ton of things' but having no releases for 6 months and then having the next two releases only have a month between them makes no sense to me... and I don't really want to space them out artificially (like "this book is done but I'm not going to release it for three months Because Advertising" ).
(Thank you, wiki editors, for filling in more stuff after reading the draft of DF. You are amazing.)
After I'm done with this, I honestly don't know what I'm doing next. Scion will finish off the "first Big Storyline" novels in the Peltedverse. That leaves me with some freedom. Here's what I have lying around:
- Zafiil (2/5ths done) - Peltedverse, but standalone (nice)
- Surela - Peltedverse, new entry point (useful for money-making)
- Alysha 7 (33% done) - installment in a series that sells all right, but would have to fix the outline before continuing
- Coracle (1st book done, 2nd book started, 4 books total planned) - completely different genre, but requires me to feel happier than I am right now
- New Kherishdar Book (some outlining done) - would be too depressing to contemplate
- Le'enle compilation (about 50% done) - this would be a lot of short story writing, since I anticipate the Kickstarter doing well. The big stop-up would be the art, though, I haven't had anywhere to draw for months
- Experimental Novel, New Genre - I started this as a doodle and it's a couple of scenes and an outline, and it's been fun but who knows if it would return any money on the effort
I'll probably decide once these two books are done, but that's what I've got on the table. (Unless I've forgotten something, and if so, remind me.)
