Okay, I love this new functionality. A lot. It solves a problem I had with Livejournal, Patreon, and Locals (prior to this) which was the lack of a good way to set aside and organize content-heavy posts, intended to convey information, and separate them from casual news/update posts.
The articles interface allows fancy formatting, headers, image embedding, etc. Plus, the ability to organize articles into playlists means you can hand over a quick/easy URL to people who want to look through the notable content (like this: https://studiomcah.locals.com/content/articles/playlists/4362 )
Given that Patreon has just severely hosed their interface, to the point that I can't even get it to cough up more than 30 posts or so devoted to a single tag, the ability to navigate to a content playlist and see everything on it is so enormous a QOL improvement that Locals is the clear winner for what I want to do with the average patronage platform. I'll still crosspost, but I'm hoping Locals's next QOL update will be something that makes it easier for subscription-exhausted people with too many logins to transfer their allegiance without pain. Some way to sell a year's worth of access via single-product sales, maybe.
Super cool though. I'm going to start pawing through my archives and rescuing lost articles and reposting them so people can find and share them again.👍
